I'm thinking of getting into comic books. What would be a good place/series/whatever to start with?
Um I would suggest getting into some of the DC 52 just because there isn’t too much to catch up on. I read Death Stroke, Red Lantern Corps, Green Lantern New Guardians, Batwoman, Birds of Prey, Nightwing So I would recommend them.
I would also suggest getting some Hellboy, you can get whole arcs in hardback books so they are pretty easy to get your hands on. I like the style of Hellboy but it isn’t to everyone’s taste.
It might interest you to get some graphic novels like Blackest Night, Brightest day, Flash Point, X-men schism, Civil War. They are just collections of older comic books series. (I actually started with this sort of thing and then branched out into the actual comic books I wanted to read, because all of the ones listed {With the exception of Schism} involve multiple characters. So it’s like a sneak peek at characters to see if you like them or not)
Basically there isn’t any right or wrong way to get into comics, they are like a treadmill that you stumble onto then you start running.
